Will I get in trouble for "coupon fraud"?
Q. I always use coupons at stores. I printed a coupon for a BOGO free cleaning item up to $2.50. The item was $2.47 at the store and it even said "Available at Walmart" on it. I used it at Walmart and at first the cashier said they wouldn't take it. I said ok, take it off my bill and I will go to another store. I also asked 5x to call a manager for another opinion/policy guidelines. The cashier instead turned to the next cashier and asked her and she said they take them. She then got the coupon to work. I called Walmart corporate and the associate said that right now they do not take printable BOGO free coupons. I told them that it had Walmart printed on it and he was kind of surprised I think. He said that I will not get in trouble… [cont.]

A. There is nothing wrong with that coupon or using it at Walmart. They will not take HIGH dollar coupons that make items free that are IPs like for a stereo or a camera. BOGOs are always ok. I just bought a game for $5.88, paid .88 bc I had a $5 coupon off coupons.com. Coupon fraud would be photocopying coupons, creating your own coupons, using the coupon for the wrong item (even if it doesn't beep!).

Q.
Asked by - Sat May 28 00:35:44 2011 - Other - Food & Drink - 6 Answers - Comments
A. No, it is one coupon and see if there is an assortment. Some of ours might say "3 for $4.99 assorted" and on offer may be several flavours of the product. In this case I am talking about Bluebird Potato Chips. That means you could buy 3 or the same flavour or one of 3 flavours. If it was to be a particularly good buy and you had 2 coupons you could buy 6 bags. In this case there are 6 flavours so you could get one of each, or how many of which you want. I am not trying to sell anything and if you look at those prices you will see they are astronomical when you compare that with what I have quoted from one of our weekly fliers. You should be able to relate that to the items you are thinking of.

How do I do one of those "text this here for this coupon" things?
Q. You've seen them. "Text 4545 to our thing, and we'll send you a coupon/discount/joke of the day" etc. I don't have a cell phone, and would like people to be able to text their phone number and maybe a selection for a contest, and preferably have the information emailed to me. Are there companies that do this?

What item is free if you buy three and have an "equal or lesser value coupon?"?
Q. If I buy three items, Item A costs $10, Item B costs $15, and Item C costs $20, and I have a coupon that says "buy one item get the second one of equal or lesser value free, which item should I get free? Please explain.

A. They'll give you the $10 item for free. That's the way stores always run those type of promotions. You should go through the checkout, buy the $20 and the $15 item (so you get the $15 one for free), and then go back through the checkout again to buy your $10 item.

Q. Whats the legal ramifications of someone "inventing" and using an unauthorized coupon code? Asking because I got two promo codes and noticed they were similar say mud123 and mud323 when I put in random characters for those last three I get more codes. Can I use those? A. Yes. the use is illegal. It is financial fraud. They were not offered. If they are offered and you qualified as a person that they would have offered it to then you have not problem. Coupon sites are usually OK since they list the qualification if there are any.

A. I don't get what's so difficult to understand here. 1 coupon per Pepsi. That means you can only take $.55 off of one Pepsi, not 7 Pepsis. This is standard. 1 coupon per purchase. That means that even if you had 7 coupons, you cannot use them all in one purchase. This is pretty standard for larger discounts. If you want 6 more Pepsis at $.55 off, you get 6 more coupons and do 6 more separate transactions. On coupons where you can apply it to several products, it usually says "Up to 3" or "Limit 3 with coupon".

There are other sites that offer similar services for a smaller or no fee but none of them offer the same level of service and the ability to actually save time while using coupons. What does it mean when a coupon says, "Cash value: $.01"?
Q. I mean, who would "buy" a coupon?
Asked by Amber - Mon Jul 9 20:00:33 2007 - Personal Finance - 5 Answers - Comments
A. In some states, the company can be required to redeem coupons for the 'cash value' even without a purchase. If no cash value is stated, the face value of the coupon is used. A 0.01 cent cash value ensures it is not worth your time to exercise that right.

Q. I found a coupon for 55 cents off Brawny paper towel. It says "Available at Wal Mart" on a corner. I dont normally shop there, I shop at the Commissary. Can I still use it at Commissary?

A. Use that baby anywhere you like! As long as it says "manufacturer coupon" at the top, you're good to use it at any store that accepts coupons. Sometimes stores pair up with the manufacturer to market a coupon, but in the end, the coupon is good at any store. If it says, "Redeemable only at Walmart" or "Available only at Walmart", then you'd have to redeem it only at Walmart.

A. ya know, it is a bit frustrating! I do know that I try and keep up to date with yelp.com, I dunno if you know about it but if not it's a review site and let's you read everyone's reviews on local resturants, bars, clubs - etc. A lot of time people even have the up to date drama behind some places. It's a good resource and I've even found out about a few good places I haven't seen yet and I've been here all my life.
